# Tips & Tricks

Level up your editing with these advanced techniques and recipes to create professional screen recordings.

## [🌊 Using the Waveform](/content/docs/tips-tricks#-using-the-waveform/index.html)

The audio waveform on the timeline is a powerful visual guide.

- **Find Silence**: Flat lines indicate silence. Use these spots to make cuts or speed up the video.
- **Sync Visuals**: Align sticker appearances or zooms with "spikes" in the audio (e.g., when you say "Look at this!").

## [🎨 Theme Customization](/content/docs/tips-tricks#-theme-customization/index.html)

Screentell comes with built-in themes to match your mood.

- Click the **Theme** in the bottom-left of the Inspector.
- Choose from **Screentell** (Default), **Slate**, **Cyber**, or other available themes.
- This changes the UI accent colors, making the editor feel fresh.

## [🎥 Smooth "Pan & Scan"](/content/docs/tips-tricks#-smooth-pan--scan/index.html)

To create a smooth camera movement that follows your mouse or attention:

1. Zoom in to 1.5x or 2x at the start of the action.
2. Play the video.
3. Whenever the action moves to a new part of the screen, pause and **click** motion track on the timeline to add a new motion.
4. Screentell automatically creates the smooth transition between these points.
5. _Pro Tip_: Set the Motion Style to **"Smooth"** for a cinematic feel.

## [⚡️ Fast Exporting](/content/docs/tips-tricks#%EF%B8%8F-fast-exporting/index.html)

- **WebM** exports are generally faster and smaller, perfect for quick sharing on Slack or Discord.
- **MP4** takes a bit longer but is compatible with everything (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube).
